Section 06 — FAQ

The questions we get asked.

Six questions we've heard the most since 2024. If yours isn't here, write to us: we reply within 48 working hours, quote or simple clarification.

01 What does a DMC actually do?

A DMC, Destination Management Company, is a local incoming agency that orchestrates a whole professional event on a given territory. Solcanto Events is based in Lisbon and covers six Portuguese destinations. In practice: accommodation, transfers, catering, venues, activities, guides, scenography, recording: under one contract, one invoice, one point of contact.

02 What types of events do you organise in Portugal?

Three main formats: corporate seminars (plenaries, workshops, leadership off-sites), incentives (scripted reward trips), and team building (purposeful team activities). Groups of 10 to 1,200. The three formats often combine in a single stay: plenary in the morning, workshop in the afternoon, gala dinner in the evening.

03 Which destinations do you cover exactly?

Six operational grounds: Lisbon & Sintra (capital, Cascais riviera, palaces), Porto & Douro (UNESCO centre, oldest demarcated wine region in the world), Algarve (200 km of coast, 40+ golf courses), Alentejo (a third of the country, vineyards, pousadas), Madeira (subtropical island, levadas) and Azores (volcanic archipelago). Each destination is 2h30 to 4h flight from Paris.

04 How long does a quote take?

48 business hours after receiving the brief. A Solcanto quote contains: a substantiated destination recommendation, a day-by-day programme, costed accommodation options, indicative scenography, two or three alternatives, a line-by-line structured budget. No commitment, no charge.

05 Why choose Portugal for a corporate event?

Seven factual arguments: proximity (under 3h flight from Paris to Lisbon or Porto), mild climate nine months a year, dense 3★ to 5★ hotel portfolio, favourable value vs Italy or France, safety (among Europe's safest countries), English-Portuguese bilingual suppliers, landscape diversity (sea, mountain, vineyard, city) within 2h drive.

06 What languages do you work in?

The Solcanto Events team is French-English bilingual, and operates in Portuguese with local suppliers. Guides, hosts and fadistas can perform in French, English, Portuguese, and sometimes Spanish depending on profile. No language barrier between your attendees and the ground.
